On the day of the duel, Hunter and Kukulkan faced each other on a field outside of Mexico City. As soon as the fight began, Hunter ran towards Kukulkan and stabbed him in the stomach. The god fell to the ground bleeding heavily, and Hunter was declared the winner.

He returned to Scotland a wealthy man and was hailed as a hero. His victory over Kukulkan is still celebrated each year in Mexico City.
